The Church of England has announced Nigeria-born Woyin Karowei Dorgu as the 13th bishop of Woolwich.
Dorgu, the Church’s first black bishop in 20 years, will be consecrated at Southwark Cathedral on 17 March, 2017.

A statement from England’s Prime Minister Office said that The Queen approved the nomination of Dorgu to succeed the Right Reverend Michael Geoffrey Upgrade.

Fifty-eight-year-old Dorgu was born and raised up in Nigeria, where he trained as a doctor.
He studied at the London Bible College for his BA. He also studied for his ordination at Oak Hill Theological College from 1993 to 1995.
